How To Clean Your Chainsaw?

After using your new chainsaw several times, it gets greasy and dirty. And then if you keep on using it without any cleaning, the performance of the electric chainsaw gets diminished. Generally, Dirt, Sawdust, Sap or resin from the tree gets struct in the chain. For better performance of the saw, you need to keep it clean and serviced. Proper cleaning, care, and servicing increase the life of your chainsaw. So here's how to do it:

Warning: Before proceeding to do the following thing, first, you need to disconnect the saw from any source of power so that no unfortunate accidents occur.
  • Cleaning the chain: First, remove the chain from the saw. Then soak it in water plus cleaning agent for 15 to 20 minutes. After that, take out the chain and softly scrub the entire chain with a brush. Continue scrubbing until you can see it shining. Then rinse it thoroughly and make sure no water is left in the gaps. It should be completely dry so that you can protect it from rusting.
    Now, you have to oil the chain. Your chain must be always lubricated so that the blade cuts evenly and spins freely with low heat produced.
  • Cleaning the Chainsaw carburetor: You just need to simply clean the air filter, air intake, diaphragm, cover plate, and needle valves. You can clean all this with the help of a spray cleaner. Make sure that no dirt is visible in the diaphragm and other parts.

Note: Don't use a brush or a scrub to clean these parts. A spray cleaner is well and enough.
  • Reassembling: Now its time to keep the things back in their place. Assemble all the parts back, if you can't remember what goes where don't hesitate to use the manual that you get with the chainsaw.
It is crucial to store your chainsaw in a dry, dust free and well-ventilated place. In case you have a cabinet, keep it there that is the best place to store it. Keep it away from your living area as it might be harmful if you have children running around.

Cleaning and storing your chainsaw in the right way gives it a good life. Cleaning the carburetor will ensure your engine's long life.
